A rising junior at Georgetown University, Gilbert has played soccer since age 4 and been a United fan since seeing Ryan Giggs decimate Arsenal in the 1999 FA Cup semifinal, part of an epic season that would see United clinch the unprecedented (and unrepeated) Treble. He has a history of liking number 7s who go on to leave the club and has a David Beckham poster and autographed Cristiano Ronaldo jersey to prove it, though he isn’t planning on buying any Michael Owen apparel just yet. His least favorite team is, of course, Liverpool, followed by Manchester City, Leeds United, Bolton, Real Madrid, Chelsea, and Arsenal, in that order and with a rational explanation behind each hatred (or, in Arsenal’s case, mild dislike). His favorite national teams are England and the US, though he finds Spain and Brazil the most aesthetically pleasing and the most exciting to watch. While he enjoys watching leagues other than the EPL, he doesn’t have any favorite teams in these leagues other than whoever is playing Real Madrid. When he isn’t watching or playing soccer, Gilbert watches and plays basketball and other sports, DJs, does MUN, and occasionally studies for classes.
